The Three Little Pigs
We read the story The Three Little Pigs today. I love how everyone knows this story so they were able to help me read it! Afterwards, we talked about becoming engineers and building houses that would not fall over if the Big Bad Wolf came by. First, students got to choose what building materials they wanted to use (legos, blocks, Lincoln logs, paper, etc). Then they could build a house by themselves or collaborate with friends. After their house was built, they needed to see if they could blow it down. Very few houses fell over so students did a great job!!!
Making our own Teepees
Yesterday we talked about teepees and learned how Native Americans made them. We used the tools we had (chairs, tables, rest towels and blankets) and made our own teepees. During read to self time, we took turns reading in the ones we helped build.

We went on a leaf hunt!
What a beautiful day for a leaf hunt! We went for a short walk to look to leaves of different shapes, sizes and colors. Then, as a class, we looked at all the leaves we found. We went around the circle and everyone shared their favorite leave and they explained why it was their favorite. Then we sorted our leaves by color, then by size. Lastly, we used our leaves to do a leaf rubbing! We all had so much fun :)
