Apples Theme Week

 Last week, our theme was apples. We did a lot of fun activities and read lots of apple books. We ended the week with reading Ten Apples Up on Top, did a project with that story, and then we did apple tasting!

2nd Step Lesson

 Twice a month Miss Rohlik, our school counselor, will come to our class and work with us using 2nd Step Lessons: Social/Emotional. Last week we talked about 4 things to do to be good listeners...

1. Ears Listening

2. Eyes Watching

3. Voices Quiet

4. Body Still

A good story about why it's important to listen and follow directions!

Media Lesson

 Yesterday was our first media lesson with Mrs. Waltman. She talked to us about how to safely use the internet. We talked about 3 rules. Ask your child if they remember what the 3 rules were?

1. Always ask before you use the internet.

2. Only talk to people you know.

3. Stick to places or sites that are just right for you.

Afterwards we visited the San Diego Zoo, virtually of course :) . It is such a fun site to see!!! If you search the San Diego Zoo, you can watch life footage of some animals.

Don't Let Pigeon Drive the Bus

 Going along with our bus safety theme this week, we read the story Don't Let Pigeon Drive the Bus. We voted on who would let Pigeon drive the bus and who would say no! Then we did a writing project. I asked them to finish the sentence....Don't Let Pigeon Drive the????? Students were able to choose any kind of transportation they did not want Pigeon to drive. I enjoyed hearing a variety of answers!

Don't Let Pigeon Drive the...car, unicorn, street sweeper, boat, garbage truck and train were some of their ideas!

Bus Safety

This week we learned about bus safety. We met with a bus driver who talked to us about how to be safe when riding on the bus. 

 

Nursery Rhymes

 Our theme last week was nursery rhymes! It was so fun to sing a variety of nursery rhymes together! We started with "Itsy Bitsy Spider". We graphed how we felt about spiders and did a writing about a time we never gave up!

Then we learned about Baa Baa Black Sheep. It was so fun to see how everyone's sheep project turned out!

Library

 This week Mrs. Waltman and Ms. Dixcie taught us the rules and routines for the library. We were so excited to be able to check out books. For now, kindergartners will get 2 books every Wednesday!
